NEW YORK, NY — (PRWEB) — Fable, a developer of a full-stack web-based motion design platform, today announced it has secured $4.4M in Series Seed funding. Collaborative Fund led the round with participation from top-tier investors, including Chad Hurley (Co-Founder and former CEO, YouTube), Harrison Metal, Third Kind Venture Capital, Flybridge Capital and Sumeet Gajri (Original Capital). SIP Global Partners, a Japan-US headquartered VC firm that invests in transformative global technology, that first invested in Fable in November 2019, also invested in the round. The Series Seed funding will be used to continue to develop Fable’s software platform and scale its user base.
“At Fable, we’re building a platform that unlocks the power of motion for the entire creator economy,” said Chris Boardman, Fable Co-founder and CEO. “In a world where motion software hasn’t meaningfully evolved in over 25 years, Fable makes it easier for beginners to get started, more efficient for pros, and highly collaborative for teams.”
“Fable is opening up a new chapter in motion design,” said Fable Board Member and Managing Partner at SIP Global Partners Justin Turkat. “By bringing motion design to the browser, this world-class group of engineers and creatives has paved the way to make animation accessible for all, from non-designers to freelancers to enterprise teams. With influential partners and investors ready to support growth and the right team poised to execute on the vision, we feel confident that Fable is in a great position to succeed going forward.”
Fable’s software platform is unlocking the power of motion for every creator. By bringing the motion design stack to the browser, the platform does not require a high spec computer to function as with legacy tools. Creators can also collaborate with cloud-based team projects that enable instant sharing and feedback, and all assets can be centralized within a single architecture, drastically improving workflow. In addition, Fable is building out new, groundbreaking features, including advanced effects, no-code interactivity and even AI-based designs to empower both non-designers and advanced professionals.
Fable launched the beta version of its platform in July 2020 and has been incrementally onboarding users as they continue to build the product. Reaction to the product from designers has been highly positive to date.
“Our team uses animation in nearly every project, from client pitches to product mockups,” said the head of a digital ad agency. “Our team has been waiting for a tool [such as Fable] that allows us to collaborate on animated projects.”
Fable is part of a greater, rising tide of web-based creator tools which have raised significant financing rounds over the last few years and even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Cloud-based design tool Figma recently reported a $50M fundraise at a $2B valuation in April 2020, while online graphic design platform Canva raised $60M at a $5.91B valuation in June 2020. Fable and its investors hope the company can have a similar trajectory.
